What is the Work-Study Plan?

The Ontario work-study plan is designed to provide on-campus work experience for full-time students who require assistance in covering their education-related costs. The Ontario Work/Study Plan funds 75% of the salary (up to $1,000 max/term) of eligible students employed part-time in on-campus jobs.

Who is eligible?

If your education-related financial needs have not been fully met by OSAP, and you meet the following eligibility requirements, you may apply to the work/study plan:

*If you have not qualified for OSAP for this study period, you may complete an application for students who are not eligible for OSAP (available at the Student Awards & Financial Aid Office reception counter) only if you meet the following conditions:

How much can you earn?

Work-study jobs at the University of Waterloo typically pay either $10.25, $11, or $12 per hour. The maximum amount you are entitled to earn is $1,000 per 4-month term, including vacation pay and benefits.

It is recommended that you apply for a work/study position after you are on campus and have worked out your timetable for the term.
