Scholarships, Awards, and Bursaries - spring term

Please check this site at the beginning of each study term for information on awards available for the current term. This website will be updated in August 2012 to show awards available for the Fall 2012 term - please check back at that time for any changes. To read the regulations governing University of Waterloo undergraduate awards and to view a full description of all awards please consult the Undergraduate Calendar.

Note: If an award is not listed here, applications are NOT required.

Unless otherwise stated, all completed application packages are to be submitted to the Student Awards & Financial Aid Office, 2nd Floor, Needles Hall, by the specified deadline.

Stella Margaret Callfas Bursary Any Any varying Open to students experiencing financial difficulty as a result of the responsibilities associated with being a sole-support parent, with preference to females. Minimum 72% overall average.

Waterloo International Undergraduate Emergency Bursary Any Year 2, 3 or 4 up to $3,000 per academic year A limited number of bursaries are available to International (Visa) students experiencing an unforeseen emergency financial situation. Students must include supporting documentation; please provide ALL ITEMS as listed in the checklist on the application form.

Waterloo Full-Time Bursary Any Any varying Open to students who can demonstrate financial need as defined by OSAP or another provincial student loan program. Students must have applied for OSAP before they may be considered.

Waterloo Part-time Bursary Any Any varying For students whose normal course load of study is part-time (less than 1.5 units per term); full-time students taking a reduced course load for 1 term do NOT qualify.

Waterloo Emergency Loan Funds Any Any varying The Student Awards & Financial Aid Office administers a number of emergency loan funds which are intended to provide emergency assistance to students experiencing temporary, short-term financial problems. The funds are provided on an interest-free basis for a stipulated period of time. To be eligible, students must be in good academic standing and must provide proof of an acceptable source of repayment. Interested students should come to the Student Awards & Financial Aid Office for an application form.
